Nermine Sibai

Lawyer and legal researcher in the field of human rights and public freedoms. Her work is focused on the protection of socially and economically marginalized groups and those subject to discrimination. A legal adviser to several local and international non-governmental associations collaborating with them on issues related to the rights of refugees, migrant workers, LGBTs rights, women, children and elderly rights. She wrote about the access to information, torture, arbitrary detention, freedom of opinion and expression, and the independence of the judiciary. She has several articles on the rights of children, minors, and people with special needs, the environment, and consumer protection. She is active in political and electoral reform through the “Beirut Madinati” political movement and is a member of its grievance committee. She is also a member of the “Badael-Alternatives” association, which deals with the rights of persons who are illegally adopted or separated from their biological families.

Nermine Sibai holds a law degree from the Lebanese University and a Master’s degree in private law. She also holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
